We recently attended the first Open edX Conference, hosted by edX, and are thrilled to say that it was a tremendous success. The conference took place November 18-19th 2014 in Cambridge MA at the Radcliffe Gymnasium. Over 200 people joined the event, from all over the world, including higher education leaders, corporate executives, …and entrepreneurs. It was fascinating to learn
about the various instances of Open edX, including this one, Croatopica, offering courses on Croatian society, culture and heritage. (Surprisingly, we knew nothing about this instance before the conference! We also learned about the need for Open edX analytics tools and badging services, as these were major themes at the conference. To top off the event, on the second day, President Obama announced that edX joined with ConnectED, the President's initiative to empower teachers to use technology in the classroom.
We are thankful that we were able to partner with edX as a sponsor of the event. If you’d like to catch up on the content, check out recordings of the main sessions on YouTube, as well as searching twitter for #openedxcon. We look forward to next year’s conference and to learning about all the new projects built with Open edX.
